"Emily Morenz possesses a rare combination of strengths – amazing work ethic, enthusiasm and intelligence. She was a favorite co-worker of everyone on staff at 100.3 The Sound, as well as of our listeners. She interacted with them beautifully, making them feel like an important part of the station’s family, listening closely to engage them in meaningful conversations – thoughtful interaction that rewarded their loyalty to the station. She was genuinely passionate about music, about the brand and about people. I highly recommend Emily Morenz for future opportunities, and I know she'll go far."
-Dave Beasing, 100.3 The Sound Program Director

My name is Emily Morenz, but everyone calls me"Emo." Don’t be fooled by the age of my young and groovy soul. I guarantee I know more about the flower power era than most people who actually lived through it. My soul is stuck in 1967 and shows through all of my life experiences. I currently host a daily radio show on Orange County's 101.5 KOCI FM where I was recently voted on OC Weekly as "Best Local DJ 2019." Diving deep into my collection of almost 1000 vinyl records, I play rare gems primarily from the ‘60s and ‘70s from psychedelic rock, southern rock, hard rock, blues, folk, old country, roots, garage, and anything that’s good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll. I discuss intriguing history about the bands I play and interviews rock n’ roll groups touring around the area. My goal is to play music “so groovy it’ll makes you feel happy like an old time movie” and that brings you “a smile that won’t wipe off your face no matter how hard you try.”
I am often asked how such a young girl knows so much about every single band from the 1960s and 1970s? I was ten years old when I heard The Doors’, “Riders On The Storm” playing from my brother’s room and was immediately sucked into a journey I would never turn back from. I then stole her brother’s classic rock CDs and stayed up way past my bedtime every night researching similar bands, making my brain an endless pit of rock n’ roll knowledge. A few years later I began my vinyl collection and began discovering magical songs hidden within these albums that I knew I one day needed to share with the world (because happiness is only real when shared right?).
Despite what most folks my age are up to, I have chosen a very unique route following the rock 'n' roll world. With my spunky, outgoing personality and love of vintage fashion, I can't stay away from the microphone and rockstars! I have built up quite a resume working at KOCI, 100.3 The Sound, and 88.5 FM. Be sure to explore this page to check out my demo reel below, some radio demos, interviews, and of course to hear the story of how I ended up dancing on stage with Paul McCartney in a walrus costume.
